Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. In 1907 he was named Chairman of the painting section of the newly founded association "Les Arts i els Artistes" in Barcelona, where he remained for the rest of his life. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Artist: Ricard Canals Subject: People Style: Mid-Century Modern Product Type: Gallery-Wrapped Canvas Art This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features a woman with red hair dancing in the center of a stage. He traveled and exhibited throughout Europe, his Parisian paintings showing a Spanish costumbrista style before coming under the influence of Renoir and Degas. Ricard Canals i Llambi was a Catalan Impressionist painter, illustrator and engraver, initially associated with the short-lived "Saffron Group". Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
