He began work painting theatrical scenery, but ultimately turned to topography. Canaletto began to turn out views which were more topographically accurate, set in a higher key, and with smoother, more precise handling characteristics that mark most of his later work. He painted dramatic and picturesque views of Venice, marked by strong contrasts of light, shade and free handling. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. Artist: Canatello Subject: Landscapes Style: Impressionism Product Type: Gallery-wrapped canvas art This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features a landscape of boats on a river. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. Canaletto was a Venetian painter, the most famous view-painter of the 18th century. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors.
