Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. This early abstract, color-based style of painting was the first American avant-garde art movement to receive international attention. After a failed attempt at a career in New York City, Macdonald-Wright moved to Los Angeles. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. Stanton MacDonald-Wright was a modern American artist and co-founder of Synchromism. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. Here his roles included director of the Southern California division of the Works Project Administration Federal Art Project and UCLA professor, also keeping studios in Kyoto and Florence.
