Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. Ryan covers a variety of subject matter with his work including animals, landscapes, childrens art, typography and graphic design. Ryan uses a hybrid of traditional and modern techniques utilizing drawings, paintings, and computer based illustration tools. Artist: Ryan Fowler Subject: Animals Style: Scandinavian Product Type: Gallery-Wrapped Canvas Art This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features an ad for Shepherd Brewing Co. with a black and brown German shepherd balancing a glass of beer on its nose. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. His work is inspired by nature, advertising design, and New England and Pacific Northwest iconography. His artistic process was informed by his study of photography and photographic printing methods, both in the darkroom and on the computer. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. Ryan Fowler is an illustrator and graphic artist based in Chicago and Middlebury, Vermont. Ryan received his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design where he studied photography.
