Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. After earning her architecture degree in Montreal, Lavallee moved to the United Kingdom but found that something was missing. Eager to occupy her creative mind, Laurence taught herself quilting and eventually designing her own patterns. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. Laurence Lavallee dreamed of becoming an architect since the age of six. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. Her art engages the viewer by stimulating curiosity, triggering memories, or simply acting as a source of amusement.
