Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. He became its Principal in 1952. Artist: Clive Gardiner Subject: Abstract Style: Museum Masters Product Type: Gallery-wrapped canvas art This ready to hang, gallery-wrapped art piece features an abstract rendering of three men working in a factory. Clive Gardiner was an influential British designer and teacher. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Elements of Cubism and Futurism found expression in his striking posters, for which he is probably best known. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. Gardiner taught art at Goldsmith's College School of Art from 1929. He also illustrated a number of books, including 'Leaves in the Wind' (1919).
