Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. He used trees, mist, mountains and the light of sunset to symbolize Christian religious themes in a sort of mysterious mood. At the time, this represented a major break from traditional, representational Biblical scenes. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. Prominent Colors: Grey, Black, Tan Caspar Friedrich, besides being a Romantic, was a pioneer of the symbolic landscape. Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. He is remembered, too, for exclusively working from German land and seascapes and vivdly coveying northern light.
