Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting. In 1975, John took a trip to Holland where he received a traditional European education in the arts, a sharing of knowledge by the older artists to their teen-age apprentices. In 1979, John returned to California and started a career as an illustrator. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. Prominent Colors: Black, Tan, Grey, Green, Blue John Van Straalen discovered early in life that he had a natural gift for art.
